CREST Award Engineering Project

September 2022-ongoing

I am part of a four person group that is writing a paper entitled 'An Investigation in to Using Springs To Measure the Mass of Objects in Weightless Environments'. We researched different problem areas to see which would be most interesting to spend an academic year working on. Our mentor, DSP, gave us a broad area of Physics to focus our efforts, and we ended up choosing using resonance to measure mass over modelling earthquake-resistant buildings, as this would've been too difficult to effectively experiment with and would have taken far too much time.
The project gave all four of us insight in how to write a scienfic paper of a decent length (we're currently aiming for ~80 pages) and taught us how to use LaTeX, a software commonly used for scientific write-ups.

The paper can be found here. It is still a work in progress.
